Why did you choose a lawyer? Why did you sit through the drudgery of the Law School only for the graduates in serious debt? You want a lawyer who can speak for others, the people of the difficulty of the struggle for justice and social change, or just a lot of money? Perhaps you went to law school because you studied political science, and saw too many episodes of Ally McBeal and was seduced by the glamor of the apparent occupation. Whatever the reason to choose this profession to know the number one reason for success is something that will change your future and some law school is not to teach you.

I suggest you start marketing yourself, even if you are in school. Start by building a network ... and from the law. To organizations that deal with charitable organizations, political or other groups where you connect with key people. A plan, coach, everything you can do. Above all, a "marketing mindset". Not buying into that fallacy, that the marketing in your professional capacity, or a waste of time. Ask a successful entrepreneur, what they believe is the key to success, and they will tell you, "Marketing" and "profitable customers." Client Development should be seen as the number one professional goal and your customers your most valuable asset. There is absolutely no danger to the definition of the marketing side ... just incredible upside.
You can choose from the BlackBerry and cell phone off, more holidays, more pro bono work and all the things you planned to take when you first time in Law School. In short, client development and marketing, not only, unless you think it will. Do not think it as a marketing or sales .... Ideas to help training to solve problems, and trusted solutions.
