national law school rankings
After a summer in the war-torn East Africa, where I slept in a tent for two of the three months I was there, I returned to the United States, based on a law on education. Far less adventurous and difficult for me, passion, and I struggled my first year of law school. Although I am the first semester of courses from the skin of my teeth, my grade point average was pretty disheartening that someone thinks a career practicing law.

Fortunately, it took a few months for our second semester final exams are graded and posted. I am therefore in good faith, pursues an international legal and summer internship program at the University of Hong Kong. Located on top of beautiful Victorian Peak, I dived deeper into the science and international law.

What was unique about these three months in Hong Kong in the summer of 1995 was that the British government is still prevailing. On a trip to the High Court, I saw Chinese white judges wear British-style wigs. It was a funny and rare site to see.

My passion was particularly oppressed people of forgotten nations where human rights have been violated. Unfortunately, I have learned from my law professor in Hong Kong that the international treaties to ensure respect for human rights are rarely enforced by the United Nations or other people around the world. For me, that further reduces the importance of international law, and my interest in studying is.

In those days a certain religious group in Bibles smuggled from Hong Kong in Shenzhen, China. I was asked to participate, which I did. On this Day of smuggling Bibles was much more exciting than my entire summer buried right books in Hong Kong.

On the way home after successfully completing my summer internship and academic program that I have received a letter from my law school promotion disheartening to me to my gloomy grade point average.

Questions, what on earth would I do now with my life, when walking home to my Brooklyn Heights apartment, I heard a voice. "Go east young man Go east!"

Packed from what I heard, I decided to go to Chinatown week. In this way, I met a Chinese pastor who immediately offered me a job to travel with him across Asia and his English teacher. Without hesitation, I gladly accepted. Not long afterwards I found myself in Taipei, Taiwan.

On the other side of the road from my new apartment was Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Park honoring the revolutionary Chinese leader, Taiwan is set by the State. Suffering from jet lag, the first week I was in Taiwan, I am out looking for something to eat, when I discovered the beautiful park across the street.

Many people were exercising, enjoying the cool morning air. Tai Chi was a particular favorite, which I saw, both men and if you with the utmost concentration and precision. The Chinese internal martial art often practiced for health and longevity. The slow, flowing movements, the internal harmony and unity in itself.

Before business began, raising the national flag, together with a salute soldiers occurred daily. It was a joy to see and be seen. Although I still do not speak Mandarin, which I saw with my eyes captivated my heart and deposited a deep respect for Chinese culture.

Because of my cooperation with Pastor Ko and other reputable ways, I soon became a highly sought speaker. Others in Asia began hearing from me and invited me into their countries.

My trip to Burma was a somewhat covert operation of the test, where I was invited to speak, has been chosen as a "blackout", where foreigners are not allowed. However, after a meeting with my first contact in Rangoon, we were able to exchange the issue of national currency and a domestic flight to the remote destination.

There was no electricity. I slept on a blow up mattress under a mosquito net, while large rat crawled overhead in the night. We hung our meager supplies and fruit from a string, from the rats get to them during the evening.

When I awoke in the morning, there were always fresh rodent droppings on my mosquito net. Nevertheless, I was happy to endure suffering light, taking into account the enormous response from people when I talked with them about their personal competence and a world-changer.

Since the university was shut down in Burma, has students what they could to get their education and professional development. That is the reason why they were so excited when I speak.

Historically, students and monks peaceful protests in Burma were terminated by the brutality and killing. What worries me most, however, was the lack of opportunity for bright young people across the country. Religious leaders from the monasteries asked for rice daily in the streets of Rangoon. Democracy will not be tolerated such as in power were determined, as long as possible.

What touched my heart the most was the humility and the hunger of young adults, in the vicinity of foreigners to learn what they could. Such a longing for knowledge and self-development deeply moved my heart to do all I can for the Burmese youth. I pray the freedom in the hearts of the youth and monks in Burma can somehow triumphant breakthrough and their beloved country.

Upon reaching my twenty-eight day limit on my visa into Burma, I was forced to leave the country. My next stop was Thailand, a beautiful country with lots of sexual perversion.

Never in my life I had seen how open prostitution, as I was in Bangkok and Phuket. Prostitutes and transvestites free to the people on the street advertising paid for sexual favors. General ladies and "Lady Boys" at me uttering obscenities and sale of services.

The U.S. Navy and Marines arrived in Phuket like to party, and take in some extracurricular activities. A few men who were friends with local-service girl. I can only imagine how many foreigners drunk waking up in the morning only to find she slept with a transvestite.

In addition to the deputy of prostitution, Thailand as a whole is a beautiful place to vacation and visit. The food is fantastic. The people are friendly. The beaches are excellent. Among the islands I visited were Krabi and Phee-Phee, then click on the hardest hit by the tsunami.

A European restaurant owner told me stories of young Burmese women who had been abducted or promised work upmarket resort. Once the Burmese girls were in the cities, their passports and they were forced to prostitution. I was informed that if the young ladies received a sexual or HIV disease, they will be returned to the Burmese border, a lethal injection, and left to die.

These human rights violations are rarely fought, given the limited economic opportunities in Burma. It is said also to the region in the northeast of Thailand families sell their daughters into prostitution to make money.

Although I saw many beautiful young ladies, I was able to convey me happy. I was not interested in the capture of any sexual diseases, I was told, was everywhere in Thailand.

I traveled further south, when I received an invitation that we are in Penang, Malaysia. Immediately after entering Malaysia, I could sense there was a stronger state hand in the country. I found the Muslims in Malaysia are still very friendly and respectful.

My greatest adventure was a trip to East Malaysia, where I spoke in several poor villages. The people were very valuable superstitious, practicing various observances such as voodoo, I had only before in Haiti. Some claimed they harassed and worried demon spirits. Therefore, I spoke about the importance of guarding your heart, personal cleanliness, food and fearless.

The villagers were overjoyed that I am a guest and countless meals cooked for me to try. Their poverty does not hinder their kind hospitality, neither their generosity. I will never forget the tenderness of the heart showed me the Malaysians.

An unexpected visitor showed in a modest house, where I stayed was a monkey. During the outbreak of Japanese encephalitis, if the military has been the slaughter of pigs, many were concerned about other animals that contain the virus. Fortunately, we never became ill with the disease and led by the outbreak intact.

While in East Malaysia (the island Bornea), an invitation to speak came in Brunei. This small oil-rich country and had not much to do socially at night, but people were all very polite and industrious. Shell Oil and other petroleum contractors visited the small country to do business.

What surprised me most was to see more than seventy people jam packed into a small house to hear me speak. The event was organized by a Christian community, and not legally allowed to meet publicly.

When I inquired further, to the laws of Brunei, was told that only the Catholics and Anglicans are legally empowered to conduct Christian ceremonies. Brunei does not allow other religious groups have churches or schools.

It was then I realized how invaluable the freedom of thought and expression, without which there can be no democracy or even the government to serve the people. These sacred freedoms, we in the West so often take for granted are very well maintained and just wanted to abroad in countries such as Brunei. Although Brunei has a prosperous economy, it is a "dry land" which means that no alcohol is sold in the country. Certainly the ban on the use of alcohol has its advantages. There is no drunk driving incidents with people at risk, neither excessive drugs. As one who does not even drink, such restrictions did not affect me.

Nevertheless, as a world traveler touring Asia, the laws of Brunei, a limitation of religion and consumption are very noticeable. On a more fun note, the free theme park of the Sultan, for all too happy to use in the middle of the country was a blast! Children and adults of all ages, make merry and enjoy very much! It is my hope that the Sultan of generosity will be on social freedoms for the people of Brunei.

After leaving Brunei after we Jakarta, Indonesia. As a surfer Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago, was quickly my favorite country in Asia. Given I do not have much money for traveling on the cheap hotels and minimal cost of life from Indonesia very comfortable for me.

Even better, people were very generous. Where I have still more money than I came with. Goes on to cut hair in the salon, I was surprised today, reflexology. Foot massage is very popular throughout Indonesia, and costs only about $ 5 to $ 10 depending on where you go.

After a good training in the hotel gym, I even managed a full body massage lasting one hour for only $ 10 to $ 15 USD. I suddenly felt like a king, if I lived on a Pauper's budget.

During his travels to different areas of Jakarta, my taxi driver took me a former hotel has been bombed, during the riots a few years ago. The building was completely destroyed. I was told that Islamic terrorists had blown it in anticipation of President Clinton and other Americans there.

I learned about the May riots in which Chinese business people were also of the Muslim extremists who destroyed their homes and sought to kill them. Like clockwork every year in May, Chinese would leave the country, fearing for their lives.

It seems the Chinese living in Indonesia, which the locals jealous. Your business acumen and astute mind provoked fighting Indonesians.

Nevertheless, there are equal opportunities for all across Indonesia. But many people were easy, the protestation of the call to violence. Unfortunately, many have died in recent years as a result.

I'm very in love with Indonesia and back countless times. I particularly remember my time to speak in East Timor during the war in 2000, before the United Nations granted them the national sovereignty. There was a time of hardship and unrest, war, how many innocent people killed. Fortunately, Timor-Leste, as it is now called, is a country house in peace.

When the tsunami swept over the island of Sumatra, I was with compassion to find my way to Banda Aceh. The long-standing secessionist province of Indonesia, historically killed dissidents and religious leaders of other religions. Finally, the leaders of Banda Aceh prohibit international relief organizations.

This all changed when Banda Aceh and the neighboring towns were hit by the tsunami devastated. International aid organizations from all over the world suddenly welcomed with open arms, waving hands and smiling faces.

I met people who had lost up to five children and their wives in a single day. A Muslim man told me he cried for two straight months.

Anxious to do what I could with what I had little finance, we have a Muslim young man rebuild his house. His house was hit by the tsunami leveled out and he washed on the top of a hill nearby, when the waves swept through.

It was nothing less than a miracle that they kept alive. As they all pulled together to rebuild their homes, bureaucratic delays by the government impeded progress. But there are still many more to build, with or without permission.

Other allegations later surfaced that corrupt government officials, national and local level were Pocketing charitable contributions and not always in the most need. Such corruption is widespread throughout Indonesia as is evident from the poor and the poor infrastructure in the country.

Unfortunately, corruption is rampant. Even more alarming was the drug epidemic, I witnessed among young people, many of whom use ecstasy. It is said, about 15,000 die annually youth overdose of ecstasy.

The island of Java also has its problems with prostitution. Not what one would expect of an Islamic government.

The bombings in Bali, the discos were set on fire and killed tourists in fear throughout the tourism industry. As the economy nosedive, the Indonesian government and the police quickly to the terrorists to frustrate the national stability.

The dangers of terrorists remain throughout remote areas of Indonesia, because one never knows when a radical strike in May. Overall, Indonesia is very peaceful, polite and friendly to foreigners.

I often felt like a movie star, where I was, as people in Indonesia called me with joy, hope, a wave or smile back.

The sweetness and sincerity of the people my heart stolen. Although I am a born American citizen, I left my heart in Asia. Any chance I am happy and fully returned to the continent where two-thirds of the world's population lives.

Here at home in America, I survive, but the Far East where I live! Asia is where my heart is alive!
