He is gone, and with his in a big emptiness there is in the House of Representatives. He was dignified, a class act, and became known as the defender of the weakest in our society: the preborn. A spokesman for Washington Rush University Medical Center, said Henry Hyde died on Thursday at 3 CST clock in this hospital. There was no immediate word on the cause of his death. However, his family to the Chicago Sun-Times that he suffered complications from open heart surgery.

As a young man, the former Illinois representative Henry Hyde was a football player. His remarkable career in public office, the 32 years as a Representative for the 6th S District. He was questioned by some political insiders as one of the last remaining "statesmen" in Washington and a never-tiring fighter for life.

At the beginning of his political career, which encompassed four decades, Hyde courageously introduced an amendment to prevent federal funding of abortion. Congress has the action that became known as the Hyde Amendment and continue to protect preborn babies.

He led the fight to ban partial-birth abortion. In addition, Hyde author of Mexico City, which forbids that federal money to support abortion abroad.

The Illinois Republican was a Roman Catholic who, during his 30 years in Congress blocked federal funding for abortion, which he described as "evil" killing of innocent life. Henry Hyde was a passionate man, but his conduct was not improper. He was a man who lived his convictions, what the Bible directs us to do: Defend the poor and fatherless: justice for victims and the needy. Deliver the poor and needy: rid them from the hand of the wicked. (Psalm82 :3-4)

I heard his passionate plea for the unborn as he said, there were not any weaker, needier people in our society than the "pre-born human. He said he had the (then) a representative for more than 25 years, and he was willing to his office, his pension and his reputation to protect these precious people.

Many of his colleagues say his remarkable achievement was the Hyde Amendment. The measure was the law of the country in 1976, and it prohibits the public funding of abortions through Medicaid. The National Right to Life Committee once conservatively estimated that the Hyde Amendment prevents at least one million abortions.

Hyde from the Congress at the end of the last meeting. Before he officially service-left government of President Bush him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was too sick to attend the ceremony. His son, however, accepted the award on his behalf. The White House praised the Illinois Republican as one of the leading opponents of abortion as a "powerful defender of life" and an advocate for a strong national defense.

Die-hard Democrats will remember him as Henry Hyde, the Republican, the steering of the charges against President Clinton. During this time it became known that Henry himself had in an adulterous affair 30 years ago. He did not deny or excuse for them. His answer was in line with his own class and decency: We come to this difficult task as flawed human beings, under sentence.

Henry's death has some interesting thoughts for me. First of all, he died on the 60th Anniversary of the Israeli state was founded. I am a Christian and I do not believe in coincidences. But I'm not sure what the historical moment of Henry's death.

Secondly, I think how proud Henry's family must be his legacy. I wonder what legacy I leave behind for my children. Will you tell me how it was said of Henry that I am a passionate woman who tried to make the world a better place?

Oh, dear God, let it.
