southern california law school
Wendy and I returned from the hospital yesterday evening and are both pretty bushed. I woke up this morning and Nate, my morning workout partner, do not want to go (he felt sick), so I gave him a pass. I was a little tired to stay with Wendy, while we were trying to juggle a toddler and a new baby born, so I also did not make it out the door at 5:30 as usual. I felt bad about it, but I also think it is important to your body every now and then.

I did my last year in law school today, so I changed it up to about 8 clock and not at home until 5pm. One of the things I do not like about the Law School in general is that it promotes a sedentary way of life. They sit in the library and read, you sit in various classes, hear lectures over several hours, and you go back into the library and sit while you read. Yes, this is my life.

The stress of the Law School also tend to the worst in people's health habits, whether it is the diet too much cold pizza or the meeting. Law School is a dangerous place to be for those who are on food if they are stressed. I am one of those unlucky, it is that attempts to focus on food. Well, I dominated, where most of the time, I was not directly responsible for the pizza and coke. But now and then, I'm still trying and take far too much pizza and bad food. But I can be something that could help if you tried to eat nastiness: Run.

Today after the meeting so long as I antsy, in fact, as soon as I have at home, put on my shorts (it's still cold outside, but who cares) and went on a run. I have sand, and she came with me. We decided to try again for a 3-mile run, I told her that we should run to 10 minutes per mile pace and that they could do it. She was not sure, but we did it anyway. We started on 41st and Riverside, and ran into the park at 51st and riverside, the one and a half mile south.

Since we are the first mile marker she asked how she was huffing a long, "Is this the first mile?" I told her not to say that we are only in the first half miles of the course. I could almost sense some desperation, after I told her that, so I encouraged her and told her that we have great time.

What's funny about endurance racing is that we are all stronger and faster than we think we are. When she resigned to the fact that they are still two and a half miles on a funny thing happened. Your pace faster. The longer we were there was more comfort. Slowly, as she found her rhythm, she was runner tonight. No longer, it was desperation, but it was a statement. They reached another personal miles rock tonight, and it was cool for me as a kind of an experienced brother in law to see how happy she was.

I too was happy and had reason to celebrate. I have for my new baby was born, I ran for my wife, not yet (but soon:)), I ran for my little girl who is so darn cute. And after the feeling that high that only runners know it today, I knew that once I find my rhythm and that what life could bring difficulties, they are babies or Law School, I would be in order.
